17 phone calls so far

We still keep a landline although it’s never used. Today the phone rang 17 times so far with the same recorded message about some charge on our Amazon account. The same recorded message came from 8 different phone numbers so far. This might convince me to get rid of the never used landline. Ugh!

Twice a day, for the last two weeks, we get phone calls about our ‘because we are on Medicare free Covid tests’.

Same call?

I got a call from Amazon about charges on my account a few weeks ago on my cell. I didn't answer it since I didn't recognize the number, but they left a message. That message was cut off but it said "charged to your Amazon contact. Please contact the Amazon Fraud department at your earliest convenience." I checked my Amazon account and didn't see any unknown purchases. I also checked my online banking and didn't see anything fraudulent charges. I did a live chat with an Amazon customer service operator, and they told me that Amazon would never call you about a purchase.

I dumped my landline this summer when I found that I could get my "bundled" service for half of the price now without the landline. Years ago it was only a $5 difference.

I know eventually there will the be the same amount of robo calls to my cell phone. I have seen an increase in the last year so I decided to go ahead and make the move this summer. It hasn't been worse on my cell yet...

I keep a landline precisely so that I can give that phone number when I think having to list a phone number will result in a bunch of robocalls. I don't even have it plugged in right now - I just check my account online periodically to see if there are voicemails I need to attend to. (A very rare occurance).

There's still no significant savings in getting rid of it. If there ever is, I probably will be done with it.

Landline

We got rid of it this summer. We had so many robo calls and during election season the calls were constantly coming at dinner time. We saved when bundling but now it costed more to keep it. It was time.

I had 9 calls from Amazon yesterday telling me that an iPhone had been charged to my account....

We keep our landline because we get our internet thru the phone company.

All my mom ever got were SPAM calls. Social Security. Car Warranty. Computer Service. Amazon. Even some were in Chinese or Spanish. It’s no wonder she never answered her phone. I actually turned off the ringer. There wasn’t cell service at her house, so she needed to have a landline. Fortunately I had internet installed, so I could use Wi-Fi calling.

I got rid of my landline once cell service improved in my area. I used to have to stand outside on my back porch to call someone, so I kept the landline.
