7th Birthday Party

Hi! I'm in the process of planning my son's 7th birthday party. We are considering having his party at the local Ymca which has a new building that houses a children's activity room. The activity room has a small version of a climbing wall (horizontal rather than vertical) and children's fitness equip. as well as a tree house with slides. I was wondering what theme might fit this type of party as far as the cake, plates, etc. We will have an hour in the activity room and then an hour for the cake, etc. I thought I might need to plan a few games or have something on hand in case the kids got tired of playing before the hour was up and/or if they finished the cake, gifts in less than an hour. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What About.......

A Safari theme or Jungle? The little boys would be too cute up in the treehouse and on the wall in the Safari hats and binoculars that you can get at the Party Store. There are lots of plates and assessories that have animal prints or a jungle look. You could get the large lion, or Tiger cut out and then cut off the tail to be pinned back on like Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Hang a few of the velcro targets on the wall and they cound shoot the velcro balls from the little guns as if they were practicing their large game hunting..prizes for bulls eye? I bet Wal-Mart has a cake in their book that would go with this theme or they could make you one and put a match-box Land Rover on it and create trees and dirt path. If you draw it and provide the parts they are really good about making it. What ever you decide...Good luck and have Fun!

Sports

Sounds like this would lend itself very nicely to a sports theme. If your son is into a praticular sport. I could see a football, soccer, or baseball cake. I also like the jungle theme. Perhaps you could take him to the party supply store and let him pick out what he likes, my kids love doing that.

Thanks for your great ideas! We went by the "Y" today to finalize the plans and my son was very excited to see the activity room. Looks like the kids will have a fun time playing. Thanks again for your input!
