i know the secretary at one of the schools I sub at. She was actually a secretary at my high school and has now moved to the elem. schools. I want to ask her if I have been removed from the list. Is this a good idea?

list

Sure, why not? You are not asking the prinical or future boss, you are asking the secretary. As the last poster said though, word your question so you don't sound offensive.

agree-ask if you are still ON the list

it won't be offensive to ask if you are NOT ON the list...but one must always be positive!

It's always possible that there is a problem with your profile. If you determine you have not been removed from the list, you can contact whoever is in charge of the sub profiles. A couple of years ago, they were doing some "housekeeping" and deleted me from the system (the lady in the school board office). I had jobs lined up for months and they were all deleted and the system called in other subs for my jobs. I was hurt, thinking someone had it in for me. When I contacted the lady at the board office, she admitted she had been taking inactive substitutes out of the system. Once she confirmed she deleted me, she couldn't apologize enough. She even called those substitutes and asked them to allow her to cancel the jobs and give them back to me. All but one substitute agreed and the school secretary was able to put me into a job that day. Had I not had those jobs disappear from my profile, I would not have understood why I wasn't getting any calls. I would have continued to think someone was out to get me.

I didn't ask yet...

When I left I was going to ask, but then she asked when I would be coming in next and said that she may be calling me for next week. Really this was about the whole debacle that I posted about the other day. Thanks for the advice. I really like coming to this board and learning about how everyone copes with their subbing and little tricks that they learn. THANK YOU!!
