I teach in a k-2 school and we are putting on a school-wide play; A Tribute To America. We're singing a bunch of patriotic songs together, and then each grade level will sing their own song. I wanted to spice things up a little, so I wrote my own version to Neil Diamond's, "They're Coming to America." Any tips you have on "tweaking" it are greatly appreciated! This is the best, most supportive board! Thank you, Lauren Alexander. Here goes:
Far, we've been making it far
With a loving home
And a wish on a star
Free, oh we're blessed to be free
We are in a land
Where we can live our dreams
Off to school where we can learn
We're living in America
Where we can choose who we want to be
We're living in America
Our ABC's help us learn to read
America's what we need
And boy, we try so hard
Yes we try so hard
School is where we make new friends
We help each other 'till the end
This country's what we need (2x's)
Off to school where we can learn
We're living in America
Where we can choose who we want to be
We're living in America (3x's)
