another animal prayer request

My beloved ferret (the one in the picture) is very sick. He is almost 6 years old and has been laying around the last few days. Hubby took him to the vet today and my Spazz has fluid around his heart and lungs which is causing him great distress. Spazz was placed on lasix and is givin a 50/50 chance to make it. I need all of the animal prayers you can give right now. I do not have any children of my own and my ferrets are my boys. If the medicine works we should see improvments within 36 hours and if not we only have a few days with him. Please say an extra prayer for my Spazzer.Thanks

My beagle almost died four days after I got him from the Parvo virus and I have spent plenty of time and money at the VET's office. It is an awful feeling. I am sorry that you have to experience this. We get soooo attached to our pets. They are wonderful members of our families. My animal prayers are with you and Spazzer. Please keep us updated.

update

Spazz is still hanging on. He is eating and we are watering it down some to make sure he stays hydrated. The lasix are doing something because we are changing newspapers like crazy. This morning I cant see to much improvments, but I hope when I get home today I can see some. My hubby gave up his Okla. Sooner jacket to Spazz because he loved it so much and that is what he is sleeping in right now, right under our bed.

Update

We are still eating a small bit, still taking lasix, but not doing much better. We go back to the vet tomorrow to check him over and to see how to procede. I don't think it looks good, so I took the day off to be with the little guy. I love him so much, but I cant make him suffer. I guess I can say I love him enough to let him go. I hope we don't have to make that decision. My heart is aching because I would never want my baby to suffer.

Stay positive. You never know how strong animals are. They seem to pull through a lot. I'm sure Spazzer knows how much you and your hubby love him. When my beagle has been sick and I have to leave him at the hospital, I always whisper to him to "be strong and fight hard" before I leave. Treasure your time with Spazz. Good luck.

We went to the vet today with heavy hearts, but came out with some hope. The vet told us that he could see some improvments and would discourage putting Spazz to sleep at this time. He wants to give him until Friday to make a better judgement. Of course, we agreed. The prayers must be working. I will only think positive because my eyes are to swollen from crying, I need the positive energy to pick me back up. Thanks for all of the kind words you all have sent my way.

I am sad to say we lost our dear Spazz today. He is finally at peace and is no longer in pain. We did find out that he did have a tumor that caused the fluid to build up. It was a tough decision to make but when the vet said he was now suffering, we knew the decision had to be made. We will be lost around here with him but we must keep Snoopy active so he doesn't grieve himself to death. Ferrets are bad about that.
