Artificial or real?

...Tree, that is!LOLLOLLOLLOL Which do you put up and why?

I put up an artificial tree, mainly because I can't keep a fern alive, so how in the heck can I keep a Christmas tree alive? I would forget to water it and soon it would look like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.:D I have a pre-lit artificial tree, so DH and I don't even have to fool with the lights.

Looking forward to getting some Christmas smiley's! <!--arrow_red--> should be a Christmas tree, Santa, and a smiley with a Santa hat <!--arrow_red--> <!--leaves_fall--><!--thanksgiving1-->:s)

Real

I always have had a real tree. This is my first Christmas getting a tree with the fiance and I was "scared" to ask his preference ... I thought he might want an artificial and I would be crushed! Good news! We are both live tree people so we will be out and about purchasing one in the next few weeks.
I like both but everyone does have their personal preference.

We also have a fake pre-lit tree. I like how easy my new one is to set up. I grew up with live trees and loved it, but I'm with you-- I'd never be able to keep it from drying up. Plus the air in my condo is super-dry.

We have artificial. We used to do real, but I like the artificial because I can put it up a lot earlier and enjoy it longer. We put ours up today...we always decorate the day after Thanksgiving.<!--thanksgiving1-->

Artificial

WE have artificial after many years of live trees. I got tired of cleaning up needles and pulling them out of the carpet! :s)

fake here

We did real for years, but between the astronomical cost and the mess, we went to artificial a few years ago. It has paid for itself twice by now. In S. Florida, real trees are soooo expensive and are already dry by the time you buy them.:( The fake one is prelit, and doesn't make a mess!

I do miss the scent of a live tree, though.

Real

We used to go to the pasture when I was kid and chop one down. Now we take the kids to Lowes and pick one out. DH straps it to the top of the car just like the Griswald family.

Everything "else" in our house is real as well!!! :D

fake

We have an artificial tree...my sister is allergic to real...so if she is coming for a visit, then it has to be artificial....everything else in our house is "real" though!:D

fake

I am way too allergic to pine to have a real tree. It's not worth the headaches, sneezing and wheezing that a real tree would cause. So, this wekend I'll unppack our fake tree, straighten out its branches and wrestle with the lights. Don't you just love Christmas? :)

I love real trees. We used to buy the plantable ones to put in our yard. A few years ago we had wood floors put in and I'm afraid of water getting on them so we went to artificial. I do miss the real ones though.

Personally Real But

fake tree. When I divorced DS's dad, he was 3 1/2 and I went out and bought this huge wonderfule tree. I kept it up the entire Christmas season. Well, when it was time to take it down, I had to wear a super thick flannel just to get the ornaments off and forget the lights. I could barely get the thing out of my apartment. I did manage to drag it out lights and all. After that I went to Walgreens and bought a small 20.00 Charlie Brown Tree that I could "handle" by myself. I have always relied on "old Charlie" until this year. Today I tackled a huge fake tree that I bought at a garage sale with a million pieces. Hey it was only 5 bucks:D. It is big and pretty, but I think I will be looking for a prelit after Christmas on clearance.:)

As for the other, I have always thought about it, but is it really worth it? This is me and I would rather be "the real thing" than anything else.

PS - the only time I looked liked Wonder Woman was in 1987 Sensior Year of HS and a size 3. It has been down hill since then. She has my "dream" figure.

Real, but considering getting an artificial one and trying it next year during after Christmas sales. We always take my children to my grandmothers and cut down a tree and shoot down mistletoe. It's the same thing my dad did with my brothers and me growing up. Now though, I'm thinking a prelit fake tree might be a nice change next year.

Since my DH and DS don't help me put up or take down Christmas trees, the pass two years I have bough a small rosemary "real" tree. It sits on my counter and smells good! I have also bought minature ornaments. It is cute! :D

artificial tree vs real tree

My husband and I started out using artificial trees. Then we started to get trees at the tree stand. Around here, we don't usually see much snow in winter, and almost never see it before Christmas. One year, it snowed a few weeks before Christmas and my husband and I had heard about a tree farm that was supposedly reasonable. We took the kids, and the trees were priced very reasonably as we had heard. We had the most fun going through the hills, in the snow in search of that perfect tree. Our four kids never did agree on that perfect tree and we had to just make the decision for them. We did the tree farm thing for a few years. Years later, we have gone back to the artificial tree and I love it. My living room is small and this this tree is a perfect fit. Also, it unfolds easily and is prelit. I'll cherish those memories of the times we went to the tree farm.

Artificial now

We have an artificial tree now, but we used to go to the tree farm too. The one we went to was fun. They would take you out to look for your tree in a wagon. You could get hot chocolate and there was a gift shop where you could buy ornaments and wreaths. We used to go there on our son's birthday (Dec. 12). Now that our kids are grown, we have an artificial tree. It's 7 ft.tall and very pretty, but I miss the tree farm (which is no longer in business).

Fake

We have cats and they like to eat trhe real needles. We need a new onethis year since they nested in it. Still, it lasted 6 years.

Our tree is fake and tall. We've got a tall living room window and have an 8' fake tree in the window; anything shorter would look lost there.

I love real trees and grew up with real and miss the fun of picking out a real tree, putting it up, trying to get it straight and trying to hide the bare patch in the corner.

I miss the smell. So, each year, I buy a simple evergreen wreath and hang it inside our front door, sort of near the tree. It's not as fragrant as entire tree, but I get a hint of the smell I love.

ours has always been...

artificial. Though I've always thought it would fun to go out into the woods and find the perfect "real" tree with the family. :)
