Blue and doggy daycare

Tomorrow I’m taking Blue to doggy daycare. He will stay from 9-3. He went last Thursday from 9-12 and did great. We have continued our happy visits where he goes in like a rockstar and he gets treats and love and then we leave. Fingers crossed that tomorrow is successful! I feel like a new mama taking her baby to kindergarten!

I’ve been following his journey. I hope he has a great time. Aik is going tomorrow too. Hopefully they both have fun and stay out of trouble.

I wish I could post the video I took today on his happy visit. When we turn on the street, he goes bananas! It sounds like he’s being hurt, but that’s just his husky dramatics and singing.

One of the ladies there is so funny- she found out that Blue would sell his soul for cheese. She makes “Blue lunchables”. She gets a dog biscuit, puts a little spray cheese on it and tops it with some chicken jerky. He looks at her like she is an angel from Heaven!

I'm glad Blue's happy visits have made him comfortable. Tomorrow he will be a rockstar and you won't be able to get him to want to come home. Good luck with doggy daycare.

Doggie Daycare

I hope all goes well with Blue. My basset hound Sadie loves going to doggie daycare. She plays well with other pups but has issues with barking too much. The staff put in her in a smaller group in the mornings, and she goes to the large group in the afternoons. That has helped a lot.

I have also followed your journey with Blue. You are a great dog mama and you're lucky to have each other. You have truly persevered.

This morning was difficult. I give Blue 100 mg of trazadone before I take him for daycare. It’s supposed to take the edge off his fear and anxiety, but you can’t tell a difference. He was not having any part of going to daycare. They don’t put the dogs together, unless they are from the same home or are established friends. They’ve got indoor runs that lead outside. Two different people tried to come get him, and I kept telling them that I needed to walk him back. Finally the lady hhe adores came and took charge. The plan is to stay till 3, but if he is too stressed out or scared, I will get him sooner. It’s a little crazy now with lots of people taking last minute trips before school starts. They have 60 dogs boarding this week!

The kennel lady ended up calling me at 1 and said he refused to get in a kennel- which didn’t shock me. They put him in a kennel room- looks kind of like a bathroom stall, only with a full length glass door. He did better there, but wasn’t happy. He was happy as a clam any time they put him in one of the outdoor runs, but it was so hot today that they didn’t want to leave him out for long. We will try again next Thursday when I have gone back to school and they won’t be so busy. I ended up going to get him a little early. He was a little pouty, but we had a long belly rub session and I think he’s forgiven me.
