(1)My teacher had sets of pictures-about 5 in a set. Also there were sentences. They kids had to match the pictures and the sentences. (2)There are several small envelopes with pictures of CVC words on them. The kids pick an envelope, open it to find the 3 letters, arrange the letters correctly and then write the word on scratch paper.

go to www.vanderbilt.edu/pals and look for teacher materials and then videos. They sell this program but the video clip shows you all you need to do to implement a center that your students can do. It shows a teacher at a chart going over letters and asking "What Sound?" the students respond. When they miss she says "Stop! You missed that sound. That sound is (whatever the sound is). What is the sound?" Then students respond with the correct sound. The teacher has places on ther chart that are "starred" with an astric. On each of these she says "Good Job". Once she models a couple of times and the kids are familiar with the correction procedure then it can be placed in a center and your little teachers can do it with one another! Cute, cute!
