I have had a HORRIBLE year this year. I have contemplated a career change nearly the entire year. Last year was terrible also. This is only my 4th year of teaching I should not be this burned out. My first 2 years were good, great even. Now after last year and this one I second guess my career choice.

I am currently working on my masters degree in instructional technology with certification as a media specialist. I received a county wide email this morning saying that the Middle School position for Media Specialist is available in my city. My first thought is Wow, I need to apply for that but then I think, that would be a new environment, new people, new admin...Yikes Not to mention the school is currently in an upset because their principal has been transferred to the highschool and their current VP didn't get the position.
Basically, I think change would do me good. I am so excited to become a MS but I am sooooooo chicken its pathetic.
Thanks for letting me vent!

I hate change and am also scared of new situations. But if you had such a bad past two years, it can only get better, right? I say, go for it. Maybe it is a sign that the position opened up. If you think a change would do you good, I would definitetly apply. I hope it works out for you!

job

Comfort is so wonderful and yet so hindering. :) It took me four years to finally decide that YES I really did want to move from 1st to 2nd. That didn;t even involve all the other stuff like whole new school. I was so glad I finally made the change and have been very glad about my decision. It is a lot to consider in your case. Good luck with it. If you really want it don't let the fear of change hold you back.

Do It!!!!

I am one that never changes. I don't like change at all. This year I decided to go for a change. I applied at a better neighboring school that I have been wanting to go to for years. I got the job!!!! I will be leaving my school that I have been at for 14 years. I am such a chicken about change everyone thought I would change my mind and not resign but I did. I feel great!!! I am sooooooo excited. I think that the change is going to be great for you.

I think you should go for it. Sometimes you just have to make a change. Keep me posted on what you decided to do.

P.s. Now if I could just take my desk with me because I don't want a different one.=)
