Colonial/Pilgrims

We are studying Native Americans right now and have a lot of activities to do. Our next unit is to do Colonial times. I have a few activities (making butter, costumes, and games), but was looking for some more hands on things that I could do with my second grade class. Does anyone have some new ideas? Thanks in advance!!

We read a novel called The Courage of Sarah Noble. It is set in 1707 and is a true story. Students love it and then I have them do a project. They have several choices: make a scene about the cave, wigwam or log cabin in the story, #2 make a poster advertising about land and asking people to move there, #3 research either cooking, housing, transportation, tools or clothing and write a report, #4 draw a map of the settlement several years later.
