Cruise Question...Help!

My husband and I are looking at booking a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Caribbean Princess during our spring break in April. However, we have a dilemma...

Should we book an Interior stateroom or a Balcony stateroom? There is a $750 total price difference between the two rooms. This will be the first cruise for both of us, so we don't have any past experiences on which to base a decision. We know the balcony would be really nice, but will we be in our room enough to enjoy it for the price difference? Would we feel like we are in trapped from the outside world in the Interior room, or would it be sufficient for the amount of time spent in the staterooms?

One other note...we do have another cruise to Alaska booked for early June. On this cruise we did splurge, and book the balcony stateroom.

Thanks in advance for your opinions! :p

Only been on one, but...

we staying in an interior room. Honestly - there's so much to do you're hardly ever in your room! We went on the Voyager of the Seas through Royal Caribbean.

The interior room was awesome for sleeping - no lights at all! I've never slept so good in my life!

JMO. Have fun! :D

Balcony Balcony Balcony

Oh my gosh, my husband and I just took our first cruise for our honeymoon and we were upgraded for free to a balcony room! I t was to die for. We will never cruise again without one. It was so clean and quiet out there and relaxing. We would wash our bathing suits and things and they would dry really quickly out there in the sun and wind. PLus it makes your room feel so much bigger. I truely wouldn't go for anything else. It is worth the money to me. We spent a lot of time recooping, napping etc in the room and we were so glad about the pictures we got of things we passed from the balcony too.

We, too, just got married on Royal Carribean in December. We splurged for the suite since it was our wedding. Totally worth it. We will never cruise again without a balcony - or larger sized room. Inside it's TOOOO dark. No clocks - you have no clue what time it is. I didn't enjoy that. Balcony is great even if you don't use it that much - you will use it once or twice and what a beauatiful scene it is!!!! I say go for the balcony!

Oh how funny! I am already booked on the Caribbean Princess for my April break! (week of April 22nd) I am going with a bunch of people. Some of us like me have an inside stateroom..(my boyfriend and I are not planning on spending that much time in there so why spend the extra money). My parents and my sister and her husband all got balcony rooms. According to them once you have a balcony room you can never go back to an inside stateroom. Well I have never been inside a balcony room so I guess I don't know what I am missing. But like I said, I am only planning on being in the room to shower and sleep. I can live without the balcony.

What week were you looking to book? I booked my cruise through
www.bestpricecruises.com They had some really good deals now. You might want to check them out if you were booking through another travel agency. I know if you book through that website they are now giving you a $100 shipboard credit.

I think you should go for the balcony. We went on a cruise last March and had a great room with a balcony. Some days the pool areas were so crowded, and there were always screaming kids around, and we found sunning ourselves on the balcony to be much more relaxing! Just my 2 cents.

To Jackie...

We are planning to do the April 15 cruise on the Caribbean Princess, and we are going to try to decide on interior or balcony and book tonight!

Thanks for suggesting that website. I'll definitely check it out! So far, I have checked...expedia.com, hotels.com, orbitz.com, travelocity.com, and cruise.com. Cruise.com was the cheapest...until I checked the Princess website. We can get a better price through Princess since we already have the Alaska cruise booked for June. I'll check bestpricecruises.com before we reserve! I'm always looking for a better deal than I have already found! :)

Balcony, no question!

I have cruised both ways. The balcony is so worth the money. I loved sitting out on the balcany with my coffee in the morning and getting away from everything. Yes, there is a lot to do on a cruise but people are everywhere. It is very difficult to find a spot for yourself. My vacations are for relaxing!!! I found the interior room to be too small and closed in. I could barely stand it. I would pay the $750. price difference in a minute. For me, there is no comparison. Balcony is the way to go!

Hello. I went on a cruise in January of 2003 for my college graduation. We went on a 5 day cruise to the Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean and we opted to get the balcony suite. It was very nice and I would do it all over again, but I did not use the balcony all that much. The main reason is that there was so much to do - shore excursions, touring the ship, taking in the shows and buffets. I did like the balcony though, because there was always the fact that I use it anytime I wanted without a crowd of people. Also, something to consider is that the balcony rooms are higher up on the ship, which gives you a better view looking out.

We are going on another cruise this April to the Bahamas and unfortunately this ship does not have balconies. I am trying to decide whether to get the Superior Oceanview Suite (Deck 9) or just the Oceanview room (Deck 4). It's a hard decision that I have to decide by Thursday.

definitely BALCONY

We got upgraded for free somehow to a balcony and we will NEVER go on another cruise without getting a balcony. It was the most relaxing time being able to sit in our bathrobes on our balcony and look out at the ocean. I loved to take a bath and then go out on the balcony and read. Do yourself good and GET A BALCONY!!

sick??

All sounds so lovely but how do you all handle seasickness? I take dramamine or bonine for plane rides but a week on the stuff would make me worry about missing a dose and end up sick the rest of the trip.

Personally, you don't really feel like you are on the water - or I don't anyway. I have had motion sickness at times - even riding in the backseat of a car but it doesn't bother me on the ship.

I have never had a balcony room. We have cruised twice with Carnival and have always had an Oceanview Room. I wouldn't even consider an inside stateroom. I like to look out and at least see the ocean and what's going on. Reading all your replies, I may have to try a balcony the next time we cruise.
