DH just asked me if I'll make it through the year

I'm trying. I had a long talk with myself last night. I've decided to stop trying quite so hard on the lesson planning and activities, since nobody seems to appreciate them, not even the students. I'm going to start doing some self-affirmations, since admin seems to think I don't deserve support. And I'm counting days--we're at something like 68 left.

Meanwhile, I went to a professional day last week and saw a bunch of people I worked with at another school. They were so welcoming, so cheerful and so full of praise for me. It was, frankly, bewildering. To make things even more interesting, they mentioned three separate jobs that might come open next year in their schools and asked point-blank whether I'd be interested in them. H-e-double-hockey-sticks, yes indeed. We'll see what happens.

You can do it!

It sounds like you have exciting options for next year- stay focused on those, and take the rest of the school year a day at a time. Do what you need to do, but make sure you prioritize and let go of what isn’t needed immediately.

Sending good thoughts- keep us posted!

I’ve been in your shoes so I’m also going to add that you should take mental health days as needed. I don’t know what your position is, but if you wake up and can’t do it, don’t. Have ready to go sub plans so you can just call in. Take care of yourself and do what you need to get through the year. And if you need a note from the doctor for extended leave, do it. Please don’t get to the point where you’re breaking. If you’re not getting the support you need, give it to yourself.

I agree with GG, you need to take care of yourself and support yourself. I hope a new path comes for next year.
