Dumb question about plants

First, how do you get a cute little picture under your name when you post like some are? And someone mentioned changing the color, font, using spell check, etc. I don't see a tool bar anywhere for that. Anyway, I have a question--- this is the 2nd time I've taught grade 3 and I didn't do this last year. When we do the activity where you put seeds in a plastic baggie with a paper towel... where would you get and what seeds would you use for this activity? I feel like such a dummy- and I'm too embarrased to ask my colleagues- I feel like I should know. Thanks!!

plant

you can use a red bean, kidney bean, lima bean....any dry bean. You also only put enough water to wet the paper towel one time. After it's on the window, then the water will stay in the bag and keep the bean growing.

Lima beans...

I think that lima beans work the best...the large white ones, sometimes called butter beans...Good luck!

red vs. lima

I used red beans and limas last year and for me I had more success with red beans(kidney beans).

The dry beans come in a large bag at your grocery store, and if I remember correctly, are cheap, even less than a dollar. Have fun!

When you are signed in, there is a place to "edit avatar". You can put in a pic there.:p

Next....

I used a lima bean, squash seed, and cantaloupe seed. My kids loved observing/drawing the seeds each day. They worked great!
:D
