Easy Halloween Costumes for 1st Grade

Please help me come up with a great, but easy to find or put together costume. I teach first grade and want to create or buy one that is creative and related to my grade. Most of our teachers dress up as a doctor, ladybug, pumpkin, cat, clown, etc. I would like one that is different from the usual, maybe a character from a book or something. I am not creative myself, and usually do not participate in the festivities and want to be a part of it this year!
Thanks for the ideas in advance,
Jen

here's some

I don't know what you look like but here are some book character suggestions: Ms. Frizzle from Magic School Bus, Viola Swamp from Miss Nelson is Missing, Emily Elizabeth-be sure to carry a stuffed Clifford, Lily (or is it Lilly?) with your purple purse and red boots, Junie B. Jones would be fun too! Good luck. You have inspired me to think of possibly doing one of these too.
Check out the Oct. issue of Family Fun Magazine, they have some very cute costumes that don't look too hard to do. There was one that was a washing machine with dirty laundry. They probably have some on line at www.familyfun.com (I think that is the site for the magazine if not, google it.)

Could you be Little Red Riding Hood? You could use a red tablecloth for a cape and a towel or dish rag for your head (pin it with bobby pins). You could then carry a basket as a prop.

Great Ideas!

I would LOVE to be Lilly..our class absolutely loves that book. I would need some mouse ears, a purple purse (of course!), a dress of some sort with polka dots and some red boots. Can you think of anything else for that costume??? Thanks again, Jen

Grapes

You could be a bunch of grapes. Get a purple or green tee shirt and a pair of sweatpants and tape a bunch of balloons to your shirt. In college a bunch of my friends went as the fruit of the loom guys. The two that were the grapes (purple and green grapes) taped purple of green balloons to their tops.
