Everyday Counts Partner Games

Has anyone had experience using the program "Everyday Counts Partner Games"? I think it is a part of Houghton Mifflin Math. My district has asked me to do a trial of this supplemental program in my 2nd grade classroom. It looks like a bunch of math partner games. Just wondering if anyone was already using this and had any helpful feedback for me. Thanks!

Partner Games

We got this this year. I have not yet had the opportunity to use it though. I will start after Thanksgiving using it in our Intervention Hour for those kids who are struggling with certain concepts. Sorry I don't have any real feedback for you since I haven't started it yet. Our math coach is thrilled that we got it though!

We got them last year. At the beginning of this year I gave them to a parent to make the copies, the supplies and put them together. It was such a big job, but it turned out great!! She put each game in a gallon size ziplock bag. She included the instructions and the supplies and made three sets of each game. The kids love them! It makes it fun. My high school helper plays them with the kids in the hallway. She even enjoys them.

I have used them in both first and secodn grade. My kids enjoy them and they provide valuable reinforcement of skills. I was fortunate to attend a "Make and Take" workshop each time I got a set. The first time I spent a Saturday and walked out the knowledge of how to play each game and three sets of each game complete with manipulatives ready to use the next class day. The second time I attended the workshop it was 1 and a half days and again I walked out with three complete sets of each game. Some of the games are played with ten grid cards. I ordered extra cards so that I have enough for my whole class to play the crad games in partners. The biggest suggestion I have is that you really do need to play each game whole group at least three times before you let the children play independently. We usually play me against them, then boys against girls and then numbers 1-10 against 11-21.
