Gravy

My DH loves, loves, loves gravy, and I hate it. Since it is just the two of us for Thanksgiving, we are roasting a turkey breast. The past two years, we have bought gravy mix or a jar of gravy. Does anyone have any advice for making gravy out of the pan drippings from roasting the turkey? I know I need flour to thicken it, salt and pepper....what else? Or should I just buy the jar and let DH deal with it?

I put the drippings in a skillet over low heat, add flour, seasonings and some liquid as needed (broth, water or milk). That said, Campbell's makes a good gravy! :)

Save the pan drippings. I put mine in a small sauce pan. Turn the burner on medium or a bit lower. Guestimate how many Tbsp of fat you have in the drippings. Using a wire wisk stir in an equal amount of flour. This should make a thick roux. Gradually whisk in chicken broth or water. I usually heat the liquid first. Bring to a slow boil-stirring the whole time. Stir and add liquid until you reach the desired consistency. If you use too much flour the gravy will taste like flour. I dont' bother with salt and pepper-because most people do this at the table.

I place flour in a bowl, and add a little water and stir with a whisk so it isn't lumpy it should be more liquid than thick....add salt and pepper. Put drippings in a pan or use the pan they are already in....turn on the heat and bring drippings to a boil, start stirring in the flour/water use a whisk to keep from getting lumpy...stir until it is as thick or thin as you like it.
It is really easy to make. Also...if your husband likes gravy..my all-time favorite gravy is Ham gravy. Yum ! ! ! You make it the same way only with ham drippings.

Or you can use

the jar gravy and add pan drippings to it to thin it a bit. Tastes like homemade and no one knows the difference!
