gum on my sofa

I am absolutely furious right now. I fell asleep watching TV and didn't realize when I laid down that my son had put a huge wad of bubble gum in a paper towel and laid it on the couch instead of throwing away. He tossed an afghan over it and I didn't know it was there. The gum is now out of the paper towel and ground into my denim sofa and strung over a huge area on the back of my favorite (old and thin) gown. Suggestions for getting it out?

My son does not realize it yet, but gum is no longer a part of his life for the next 12 months.

try this

As far as the gown goes, you could try sticking it in a plastic bag and putting it in the freezer. Sometimes gum will peel off after it's frozen. For the couch, try rubbing the gum with an ice cube until it gets hard. Then scrape it off with a butter knife. I've also heard that peanut butter works but I'm guessing it might stain.

The joys of having kids! LOL

Fantastic

I remember when my son was little that our barber suggested using Fantastic. She said it would come right out.

Goo Gone

It will definitely get it off the gown, just put he goo gone one, and the gum will dissolve away.. then wash.

It might work for the sofa, but I'd try a spot first to make sure it doesn't leave an oily spot. I've used it on clothes before, bu those I can wash. also used it on the carpet, but have never tried upholstery...

Fantastic

I used Fantastic by accident once to get RED wine out of the back of my husbands Brand New Embroidered Football Denim Jacket! (I thought it was Shout and didn't look.) After I soaked it, washed it ... the stain was completely gone!

-- good luck!
