Help......Door decoration ideas

I want to decorate the door to our 2 and 3 year old classroom at church. Does anyone have any ideas? It does not have to be overtly religious. Just something that identifies them as the 2 and 3 year old classroom. Also with something that would go along with the "theme" of the door so that I could put the kids names on the door. Like if I did a giant tree, I would have leaves on the door with their names on it. (Don't want to do a tree!)

I agree with you about putting the kids' names on the door. Here's an idea (no matter what the theme): once you have your door decorated, attach velcro dots, one for each child, all over the scene. Then make up removable tags for each child, like hearts, or leaves, or stars, or fish, whatever goes along with the theme. Attach the other part of the velcro on the back of their name tag. As the kids arrive each morning, they find their name on the door, remove it, and drop it into a basket just inside the room. You immediately know who's absent and the kids get a daily lesson in letter and name recognition. Each afternoon before you leave, just stick the name tags back on the door (in no particular location). The next morning it starts again!

I would suggest just decorating the lower half of the door for the little ones :-) Just do something seasonal - can't go wrong with that.
