Help!! I'm having trouble thinking up a Worm BB. The curriculum was easy, it's just the BB that's driving me nuts. I have to do 2 BB. Please help.

we do worms,
we have an insect unit. I paint a large bulletin board , the lower third i paint with brown. I paint about a foot at a time and then i drag my finger through the paint in lines to make worms paths. it turned out wonderfully. the upper third is blue for the sky and the middle is just white. We put flowers and clouds and then to make the worms. Take black or brown pipe cleaners, cut them in half and let the kids thread cheerios on to them and then twist them to make their worm cralwing. Make sure they bend the ends to hold the o's on.
Then of course we have to nibble on the extras we dont use. They LOVE it and it really looks like worms.

Oh, my gosh, that's a great idea! Thank you so much. You sound like a very creative teacher, I hope to be that way some day. I really appreciate it. I was totally pulling out my hair! My boss is very stricked about keeping up the bulletin boards. Every 2 weeks they have to be changed. Thanks again

every two weeks is way to fast. we have an ocean up now and it is a 3-4 week unit. It will stay up the whole time. Wouldnt you wish he/she could come in and do it and let you actually get some teaching done.
Enjoy and have fun, creative things come to you out of no where, the worm idea came from a craft book for a cake decoration. I just adapted it

Yes, it's frustrating changing 2 bulletin boards every two weeks. I do get teaching done, but I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off!

Don't change both boards at the same time. Change one each week, then no board will be up over 2 week. And remember, adding on to a current board IS a change.

Bertie, thank you, I totally forgot that adding to a bulletin board counts as a change. I could try that. My boss is very peticular about that. Maybe she would go for that. It would lighten my load a little. I also do double the curriculum because my boss likes it so much. She has two locations. Thank you for that reminder.

worm cake
If you want to end your worm class on a sweet note, try a worm cake to celebrate. I made a couple of them for my kids' birthday party once and they turned out really cute. First you make a Bundt cake. Take it out of the pan and allow to cool. Cut the cake into four or five pieces and butt the ends together alternating the curve of the cake. This will make it look squiggly like a worm (or catapiller). Then frost with colorful icing (I made one green and one yellow) and decorate with Dots candy, licorice, Life Savers, etc. The kids will love it!
