Help with Praxis

Does anyone out there have any suggestions with passing the K-6 PLT, and Special Ed Core Knowledge Praxis? I have the books from Praxis, but I do not find them to be very useful. I am so close to passing, and have missed by 3 and 5 points respectively. I am currently subbing full time, and am guaranteed a full time job if I pass the tests for next year, but this is my last chance. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

On the advice of a professor, I took the PLT after a sophomore course in educational psychology and passed it. It seemed to me that most everything on it was related to that subject. Maybe if you found a ed. psych. textbook and studied that it might help.

Good Luck!

praxis

I am not a good test taker. When I took my praxis, and passed it, I had studied, studied, studied to pieces. I took all my major ed books and summarized important points on index cards. I had to reduce the volume to make it easier for me to comprehend. Also, I was involved in a MAT program through a college. The professors were very helpful in outlining the key concepts that I should expect. I suggest you seek input from a professor and consider your best study strategies. Good luck!

Thanks!

Thank you for your help. I received notes from a current student teacher who passed the Praxis, so I hope those help. I know I will mainly have trouble with the PLT essay portion. I am not too worried about the Special Ed core knowledge since I have studied for that a lot. Thanks again!

Praxis "failure"

I have not met ONE person who has passed the written test for "Mild to Moderate Disabilites" the first time. Many have failed it more than once. The first time, I "failed" by one point! That is out of 172 points answering 5 questions! In my humble opinion, this is a money racket! HOWEVER, there seems to be little we can do about it.

I just thought if "Charlie" had graded my test that day instead of "Joe", I may have passed it! Maybe the scorer had PMS that day?

Anyway, when I took it in January, one man said he had taken it MANY times. This is really sad.

Use this source I passed

I failed the PLT 3 times. Then my college told me about PRAXIS Tutoring Services. I was not sure if I wanted to use the service - little expensive. However, I needed to pass and they said they could really help. I signed up and I think it was the best thing i have ever done. I passed the exam 2 months later. they explained to me everything is so much detail. I asked them for help.
