My husband and I are taking a cruise to Alaska this summer. Does anyone recommend any sites in Alaska?

My husband and I are going to Alaska too this summer!!! Actually, we leave on May 29 from Vancouver...right after school gets out for the summer! We are going on an Alaska Cruisetour with Princess cruise line. It is a 7 night cruise and 4 nights on land.

We have already pre-reserved our shore excursions, so here's what we are currently planning to do in each of our ports...

• Ketchikan...see totem poles and the lumberjack show
• Juneau...Mount Roberts Tramway, whale watching and wildlife quest, Mendenhall Glacier, and the original Alaska salmon bake
• Skagway...White Pass Scenic Railway, dog sledding and glacier flightseeing
• Glacier Bay...just cruising
• College Fjord...just cruising

As far as the land portion of our vacation, some things are included. We are still debating over the optional excursions during our free time.

• McKinley...possibly an ATV adventure or horse-drawn wagon ride
• Denali...Music of Denali dinner show, Morning Natural History Tour of Denali State Park, Husky Homestead Tour
• Fairbanks...Riverboat Discovery Cruise, City of Gold tour, possibly Arctic Circle Air Adventure, and we are thinking about renting a car on our last day in Fairbanks to explore (visit North Pole, Ice Museum, etc.)

We have been saving all year for this vacation, and my husband and I have both been tutoring afterschool to make extra money for the excursions. We will probably only go to Alaska once, so we want to make the most of our time there! Of course...we said the same thing when we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon 4 years ago, and we have already been there 3 times!!!

What do you like?

I live in Fairbanks, AK, the interior, and I highly recommend that you come inland. You truly should visit Denali National Park. I could go on and on. I lived 4 summers in Skagway, (worked for Princess Tours) and love the place. I also worked 2 summers for Royal Celebrity Tours which takes care of passengars from Roayl Carribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines.There is quite a bit of local hiking that you can do in Skagway, and you can walk everywhere. If you want more specifics let me know I would be glad to help.

You offered me a lot of helpful advice several months ago when my husband and I first booked our trip! I still have that thread bookmarked, so I need to go back and read it again now that we are getting close to our trip!

Do you think the excursions my husband and I have planned are pretty good choices?

Also, we are really debating over the Arctic Circle Air Adventure!!! Do you know anything about this excursion??? Is it worth the $$$? Help!!
