How many times have we made our students write about being thankful and never taken the time to do it ourselves? Well, I'm turning the tables on myself with this list of thanks:
1. I'm thankful for a four day weekend. I really needed it.
2. I'm thankful that I have a job. Many people don't.
3. I'm thankful to have a job that I love. Many people don't.
4. I'm thankful that there is a part of the brain that stops you from physically doing what you are thinking you'd like to do. Many teachers would be in prison if that wasn't the case.
5. I'm thankful that I never had to go through what many of my students are going through now at home. They need our love.
6. I'm thankful that hands wash. I've put mine in many things that don't belong in the classroom. Speaking of which, I'm thankful I'm not a germaphobe. I would have died from anxiety already.
7. I'm thankful that I'm not the teacher that everyone hates. In case I am, I'm thankful that I'm clueless about it.
8. I'm thankful for unconditional love. Without it, our students probably wouldn't hug us each day, and our dogs would growl at us when we came home.
9. I'm thankful for the support, materials and respect that the teachers, administrators and parents give me and my students each day. My students need the best of everything to succeed and they get it.
10. I'm thankful that there is a thing called Winter Break in a month. I'll need those days off too.
