Interviewing every Tom, Dick, and Harry

My University Supervisor waived our daily log requirement in favor of us observing and interviewing nearly every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the school building sometime during student teaching. This includes the secretary, the nurse, the custodian, the cafeteria staff, the bus drivers, the art/music/P.E. teachers, and other building teachers (besides my co-op). Is this a typical student teaching assignment? Shouldn't I be doing more important things, such as observing, learning from, and teaching with my co-op?

Typical

Although I had to do BOTH. The interviews seem to me to be more beneficial to the younger STs. I was in my early 40s, had "life" expereience including 2 children that had gone through school already. But I just jumped through that hoop as well. At least you don't have to do the log as well!!!
