jump drive

Does anyone use the flash card or jump drive. I brought the flash card cause that is what everyone has so how is this different than a floppy.
And what times of things can be down loaded on it. Just trying to get "eduKated"

The flash drive holds a LOT more than a regular floppy. You plug it in to the USB port on the computer and can save any type of file you want to it. Just make sure you read the user manual first because a lot of times you'll be required to tell your computer to stop the connection to your drive before you disconnect it from your computer. Anyway that's basically all there is to it.

As the others have said, you can hold a lot more files than on a floppy drive or even a CD.

And you can save pretty much everything that is a file to it, picture files, word documents, music downloads, etc.,

It's great if you want to back up files or if you want to transfer files from one computer to another.

Great to use..

I use my flashdrive to bring files to school from my PC to the MAC at school. No air at school so sometimes I like to 'do' school stuff at home on the PC and bring to school to use. OR if I have found something off the internet and just want to save it for later use. Love it.

The chip brand was imitation (misspelled) 524mb . There was no software that came with it so I just but into the port ( like I knew what I was doing ) the blue light came on the card then on the computer it talked about installing software ( what software). Then the wizard said something like if you try to continue this will mess up your windows. Any clue? That is good to know about the mac because I used to use my mac before I got a Pc and there are things on my mac I would like to get.
So you can download pics along with the documents is that right? See I can ask these questions with ya without feeling technological "At risk"

They're Great!

Just think of the jump drive as a smaller version of your hard drive - depending on the size (256, 512, 1G) you can store lots of files on it. Anything you have on your computer can be transferred to the jump drive. If you use Windows XP, it automatically recognizes the drive without having to install any drivers. The drive will come up as a drive labeled either E:, F:, G:, etc., (depends if you have multiple CD/DVD drives or other devices that require a separate drive). You can pretty much drop and drag files from wherever they are on your computer to the jump drive. I use mine so much I wear it around my neck.

Keep in mind that some jump drives have to be compatible with your computer's operating system. Some jump drives might not save your documents the same way as you see/have them on your (home) computer.

Installation

I'm guessing no CD came with your jump drive. The most important question before installing it is what type of operating system is your computer running (OS, Windows XP, etc). Windows XP has a lot of drivers built in (the software that your device needs to load before using it). If you have Windows XP, ignore the warning message (I did for my Kingston and Micro Advantage jump drives) and contine with the installation. I have had no problems using mine whatsoever.

I am going to try it again and see what happens but you have helped boost my confidence. It is like our kids sometimes they can do it they just need a smile and some encourgement and if it fails just think of Thomas Edison and Alex Bell. etc.
