Literature Circles and 7 Kids Out

It snowed in New England this morning so seven kids missed school. Those of us who were there continued reading our literature circle novels and started jobs that need to be finished by tomorrow's discussion.

My kids take so little responsibility for their reading/jobs without the absence. How would you approach these kids tomorrow? Should I have them sit out of groups and work independently so they're ready for the next day's work. I'd love to know what your thoughts are. Thanks.

Probably

I would probably have them read to get caught up. No sense haivng them in the group if they can't offer any comment due to not reading the material. Just have them read and be prepared for the next lesson.
