Can your bulletin board be inter-active? You can cut out a variety of shapes and write their names on a card. Put the shapes on the board in random order. Put the names of the shapes in a pocket at the bottom of the board. Have students match the names with the shapes, using pushpins. The teacher can check and/or have other students check their work. At times, re-arrange the shapes so they don't memorize the shapes and names.

You could have the kids create "Polygon People". I teach 3rd grade and one of the bulletin boards I had up in my room was "Polygon People". The students had to create people using nothing but polygons. They then had to complete a reflection sheet describing the polygons they used by their attributes and define what a polygon is. It was a great project, the kids loved it, and it combined math, art and writing. Just another idea for you!

I just did an activity with my kids. We reviewed the various polygons (4th grade). I had them design their name using a variety of polygons. They colored them and I put it up in the hallway. They really enjoyed it!

For my polygon display, I had my students work in groups and draw a scene in which they could only use polygons. To top it off, I told them they had to use at least each polygon (from triangle to dodecagon) once. Then, after I hung their pictures on the wall, my TAG students added the "RULES of polygons" written in various shapes.
