Does anyone have any good ideas for math centers on clocks and telling time? I am looking for some do it yourself centers .
Thanks in advance.

center

1. Place clocks and index cards with times written on them at a center. Have one student pull a card and read the time. He then makes his clock say that time and his partners check to see if he has the correct time. You could do a token system. If you get it right you get a token the one with the most tokens win or it could just be for practice.

2. Put index cards, yran, and a clock stamp at a center. Have students make a schedule for their day. Take a long piece of yarn and tape the index cards to it. Stamp each card with the clock stamp. Begin at the start of your day and go through a regular school day. You may want to also put a class schedule at this center for them to refer to. Ex: 6:00 wake up, 6:45 catch the bus, etc... then they draw the hands on the stamped clock to make the time.

3. Hot dots has telling time flash cards now. (Maybe for next year.)

Hope this helps. If I think of anything else I will post.

Time to fish

I have a deck of cards that came w/ my math book. It has both digital and analog clocks. I have the kids play time to fish. (Same rules as go fish). Have to match the digital w/ the analog.

Memory Game

I do time memory. Also called concentration, depending on where you live. The students have to match the digital and analog times. I used worksheets to make my cards, glued them on index cards cut in half, and laminated. Easy and effective.
