Merry Christmas From Heaven

from our church bulletin - this poem gave me some peace for Christmas after losing my dad this past July - I wanted to share it with others that may need some comfort as well:

Merry Christmas From Heaven

I still hear the songs, I still see the lights
I still feel the love, on cold wintry nights

I still share your hopes, and all of your cares
I'll even remind you, to please say your prayers

I just want to tell you, you still make me proud
You stand head and shoulders, above all the crowd

Keep trying each moment, to stay in His grace
I came here before you, to help set your place

You don't have to be perfect all of the time
He forgives you the slip, if you continue the climb

To my family and friends, please be thankful today
I'm still close beside you, in a new special way

I love you all dearly, now don't shed a tear
Cause I'm spending my Christmas with Jesus this year

Grieving this Christmas

Thank you so much for posting that poem. I lost my dad June 25th. I saw an ornament in an advertisement that had the last line of that poem on it. I wanted to read the whole thing. Today I was crying as I talked to my mom on the phone. It's been difficult getting into Christmas this year. I have a 2 year old Granddaughter that lives with us and we need to do Christmas for her. Then I read your post. Thank you.

Have a Merry Christmas.

Thanks!

I have seen this poem before, but it never had a personal meaning for me. This past September I also lost my Father and lifelong mentor. I know just how hard this Christmas season is for you. Thanks for sharing a bit of cheer with us when many of us need it!-|---

Thank You

Thank you for your responses. Christmas was bittersweet but my family was together and we remembered dad. The hardest for me was at mass when the congregation sang "Silent Night". It was dad's favorite. I was scared that the song leader was going to start singing in German (old Catholic masses used to do this) I knew I would lose it. My niece also made a mini-video tape on her laptop of pics of dad's life set to music and showed it on Christmas. Mom had found a picture of him when he was a young teen. It could be a picture of my son now!

Thank you for this. I have lost my Mother and Husband of 27 years and do not know how I'll get through all these important times that have always been "Family Times" - Thanks again, I needed to read this. I will share this with my 2 sons and my Mother in law.

jUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THE POEM, I SAW IT IN A MAGAZINE AND IT ONLY HAD THE LAST VERSE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THE WHOLE POEM. MY FATHER PAST AWAY THIS MAY, AND UNTIL THIS DAY I AM STILL HAVING A HARD TIME. THEY SAY THE FIRSTS ARE ALWAYS THE HARDEST. THERE WAS FATHER'S DAY, AND THEN HIS BIRTHDAY IN JULY, NOW WE HAVE THANKSGIVING COMING UP. AND THEN THERE IS CHRISTMAS, MY FATHER LOVED ALL HOLIDAY'S HE LOVED FAMILY. IT WILL BE HARD BUT UNDERSTANDING THIS POEM HAS MADE IT A LITTLE BETTER. WHO COULD ASK FOR BETTER COMPANY, THAN TO SPEND CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

thank you

My grandmother died this past August. Its been hard since then. Her anniversary was the same as my birthday in September and I didn't want to celebrate at all. She was who I considered my mom. She was a very religious person. I know she will be happy this Christmas with her husband and Jesus. Thank you.

Thank YOU!!!

I lost my mother this past May (2006). I was very close to her.....it has been a long road...now she is at peace. I came across this poem in a catalog, but I couldn't read the poem due to the tin print. I went on the Internet and read your posting. Thanks so much....oh, how I hope and pray it is true...Thank you

you arent the real miley because her mom and dad spend a fortune on her education , and you can't even spell. I know where she goes to school because my daughter went there. Stop pretending to be someone you aren't and get a life.

This poem is incredible. It was read at my Great Aunt's funeral jsut days before CHristmas and it made me cry, but smile, too. Thanks for posting it, because I copy and pasted it into Word Document so i will have it forever. That is a beautiful amazing, and hopefully true poem.
