Military Base Jobs

Has anyone ever tried to find a teaching or counseling job on a military base. My dad was in the Marine Corps and I'd love to be a counselor on an Air Force base (or maybe become an officer myself someday). Are they the type of positions where you really need to know someone who knows someone in order to get inside? I've never seen any kind of career fair for civilians to be employed as teachers on base.

Just wondering

Hi,
I am a teacher on DAFB. Most schools in the US that are on Air Base Housing, are actually run by the local school district. That is how it is here in Dover. When I applied I sent my application to the school District and got the call for an interview, I had no idea I would be interviewing for a position on an Air Base School. However, things might be different overseas!
BTW,I love the school I am at! There are many advantages, but a few disadvantages of being on a base school. Most children are from two parent households, but many times there is only one parent in the house, because of TDY's or deployments! Just something to think about.

There are DODD schools too. Contact the bases you are interested in. They have other civilain jobs available too. They have an online system where you can put your resume into it. It goes on points not who you know.
