Multiple Meaning Words... Any ideas??

Multiple meaning words are a big part of our CA standards and I was just looking for some ideas on how any other teacher might use them/ teach them. I have a few friends that do a "words of the week" type thing, but I was looking for other ideas too. Or, if there are any great resources out there.

Thanks in advance!!!

pun cartoon

i have my students do a pun (play on words) cartoon--they write a phrase using a homograph:

"Bats in a cave"

and then draw a picture:

(picture of baseball bats in a cave)

"Spinning top"

(a t-shirt spinning around)

Put students into groups

Take illustrators into hall and share a homograph or homophone for them to draw. Have kids share multiple meanings for homgraphs so they all have ideas to draw( fan - at a game or fan that keeps you cool)
They return to groups and attempt to draw the word for their group mates.

If it's chilly, chili, and Chile, illustrators can use markers to divide whiteboards into 3 sections and begin to try to draw one of more of the pictures. As soon as a group member shouts out the word, team gets a point and gets a bonus point if they can spell all of the homophones correctly. Put up variations of spellings and classify it under a homophone or homograph category.

Must buy books - The Dove Dove and other books by Marvin Terban( can't think of names now)
A Little Pigeon-Toed
The King Who Rained
A Chocolate Moose for Dinner

Aren't these homophones?

These are homonyms/homophones, not multiple meaning words.
