My eye is twitching!

Okay, so my eye has been twitching on and off for two days now. What in the world is that all about? Yes, my friend is getting married in two weeks and I'm a bridesmaid. She's the second of three of us to get married this year. I'm the last single one in our little group, and that's a little depressing. And my school is seeking accreditation through our association and we're doing a lot of work on that right now. And yes, I'm in the midst of planning some church stuff, and some of it is new territory for me. However, I don't really think I'm under any more stress than I usually am. Well, maybe a little more than usual, but I've certainly dealt with more stress than this before without weird little spasms. Anyhow, what things besides stress can cause one's eye to twitch like this? It's pretty violent and prolonged twitching. Really annoying. My students thought it was funny anyway. Thoughts, anyone?

It is stress!

My left eye twitches quite often. I don't think I am stressed, but I usually am. You seem to have a lot of demands on your time right now and are probably handling it all quite nicely, but you most likely are stressed. You are probably feeling a lot of pressure. Good luck and remember to take some time out for yourself to just relax. It's well worth it.

I have an idea for you....

You could always tell the students who are laughing, during class about your eye twitching, that it's you giving them the evil eye, so they'll get back to work.

(That should cure 'em.) :)

Mine, too

My eye twitches a lot. I've just gotten used to it, and no one has actually ever noticed it. My elbow vibrates, sometimes, too. No one else can feel it, if they touch my elbow, but I usually swear my cell phone is ringing on vibrate in my purse every time it happens. Then I realize its just my strange, creaky body.

Twitching

My eye twitches when I'm stressed, and I sometimes don't even know I'm stressed out until it begins. People at work often judge the stress level of certain events by my eye twitching.

My eye twitches when I'm stressed, also. Try taking some deep breaths and releasing them (Yoga style). Lavendar scents and soft classical music are also soothing. I have a Yankee Candle Lavendar air freshener in my car and play classical CD's on my way to and from school. :)

twitchy eyes

I went to a doctor aobut this a while ago, and he said that there are six muscles around your eyes and that when one of those muscles gets tired then your eye will twitch.

When I'm tired

My left eye twitches when I'm tired. I haven't had it do that in a while, but it gets that way a few times a year. My husband is the only one who's noticed it so far.

Eye Twitchiing

A friend told me that it is caused by being dehydrated. Be sure you're getting 8-10 glasses a day (don't ask me how you're supposed to go to the bathroom when you're teaching;)

eye twitch!

out of the blue one day my eye started twitching.... It lasted for a full 2 month happening about every 10 minutes or so. Iwas fliping out! The doctor said they could do a botox injection if it kept on but I was afraid to do that so I just tried to forgetit, as annoying as it was. My students didnt notice the twitch but were like" why are you rubbing your eye all the time" ONe day I realized about half way through the day it hadn't happened. It never came back! I think it was stress or looking at my computer al lthe time, not lack of sleep though because I was sleeping A LOT then. Good luck, try eye drops and not being on the computer alot because i think that may have been what started mine.

Maybe it IS stress!

I thought it wasn't stress making it twitch, but now I think it might be after all. It didn't do it most of yesterday afternoon, and it hadn't done it today until my principal walked in to do a surprise observation! The minute he walked in the door, it started twitching like crazy. Oh, my goodness!

it's probably stress

This has happened to me for about the last ten years. It doesn't happen often, once a year at most, and nobody has noticed it besides me. It definitely only occurs when I'm particularly stressed out. Isn't it weird? Who knew? I wonder if it's one of those things about getting older.....mine started in my twenties.

eye twitching is a sign of stress

Eye twitching is a classic sign of stress. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, a healthy diet, and some form of physical activity.

Do these three things and I 100% promise it'll clear up!

Caroline,
I mean this in the nicest possible way, but sometimes eye twitching is MORE than "stress." I had eye twitching for 4 years (constant) and ended up seeing a neuro-optomologist (I'm not sure if that is spelled correctly). Anyways, it was not stress. It is called "hemi-facial spasm." It happens because a nerve is on a blood vessel. There are two ways to treat this. One way is like a previous poster said- with botox injections. Another is through surgery. I just had to respond because I am tired of people saying that I'm stressed when I'm not :)
Thanks for listening, mm

twitching eye

I have had my eyes twitching for almost two months now. Both eyes, lower and upper lids, sometimes at the same time... it is horrible. I am starting to wonder if there is someting medically wrong. Maybe I will be as fortunate as you and it will just disappear....

Dave-
I did the Botox after 2 years of no relief (trying no caffeine, exercise, more sleep, etc) I researched the surgery and saw pictures. YUK! However, most people that do not get relief after years of botox will end up doing the surgery. I know it sounds extreme, but until you put up with it for yourself for years on end, you start to go a little crazy!
Botox HURTS! And it only lasts about 3 months and you have to do it again. I receive 9 shots around my eye and have been doing so for 3 years and I am in my early thirties. I can't believe that anyone does that to look younger :)
