Yay! My husband's irish and due to immigration issues we have been separated for 16 months but we finally got wonderful news! The embassy is issuing his visa waiver on January 30th and he will be coming home the next day!! It's been a frustrating 16 months but finally we can live like husband and wife! I'm so excited...what fabulous news to start 2006! I had been so depressed and felt hopeless because the process was dragging on! The morning we found out (I spent the holiday break in Ireland), I had called the embassy to check on our status and the very unfriendly gentleman working there said there was no news, and that it could take up to 12 more months! So, we were disappointed thinking I had to come back and wait longer...but 2 hours later we got a call from Dublin saying that he needs to come in on January 30th to get his waiver and to bring his passport. I don't think I'll really believe it until I see him get off that plane!!! Yayyyy!

congratulations!

My brother, who lives in South Florida, married a young lady from the Dominican Republic. He speaks Spanish, but his wife could not speak English, and that meant that he had to wait until she could master English before she could take her citizenship test. She practiced a great deal, and, with his help, she passed the test. She is now a U.S. citizen. Thankfully, your husband didn't face the language obstacle on top of what you already faced.
