Maybe these are too easy for what you want but A-Z Mysteries are always a favorite with my class. There's also Cam Jansen, JigSaw Jones. Boxcar Children are mysteries too on an upper level. I have had some classes that really like Boxcar Children and then some were just so-so on them. Of course you have Encyclopedia Brown Mysteries. Hope this helps.

Mysteries
I read a Calendar Club mystery with a reading group and they loved it. There is a book written for each month of the year and they are simple enough for many of the kids to read independently. I like to read series books to hook the kids into read more independently.
