need help writing the letter

I have tried a couple times to write the letter. I just don't know how to start. It all sounds like "hi, remember me, the person you offered the job to and didn't take it, well, keep me in mind for the new school year". I am also going to be visiting that city in the next few months and want to ask if it's possible to meet and take a tour of the school. Do you think this is appropriate? Any help you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Just say that you are a prospective teacher list your qualities, state that you are interested in the school and would appreciate that they consider you for the 2006-2007 school year. End it with thank you for considering me for the position.
