In November

Pop-up book

I used to have my kids make a cute pop-up book for this poem when I taught kindergarten.

November Poem

Try the poem November by Thomas Hood
By Thomas Hood

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

Thomas Hood (1799-1845) was born in London, the son of a bookseller. His childhood was complicated by the death of his father in 1811 which forced him to leave school and take a position as a clerk; before becoming interested in engraving under the influence of his uncle. He became interested in writing from an early age, and following a brief stint as a professional engraver began to write for the London Magazine in 1821. This association was short lived though, but the seed had been sown for his career as a professional writer which would also see him as an early champion

Best wishes from Northern Ireland.

Here's another one (have seen it titled "No!)

I believe I've seen this titled "No!" and "November". A longer version of what others have posted. Enjoy!

by Thomas Hood

No sun--no moon!
No morn--no noon!
No dawn--no dusk--no proper time of day--
No sky--no earthly view--
No distance looking blue--
No road--no street--no "t'other side this way"--
No end to any Row--
No indications where the Crescents go--
No top to any steeple--
No recognitions of familiar people--
No courtesies for showing 'em--
No knowing 'em!
No traveling at all--no locomotion--
No inkling of the way--no notion--
"No go" by land or ocean--
No mail--no post--
No news from any foreign coast--
No Park, no Ring, no afternoon gentility--
No company--no nobility--
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member--
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds--
November!

How is this one? I have had it for years.

NOVEMBER

No green grass, no flowers
No sand pails, no towers
No camping, no hiking
No swinging, no biking
No fishing, no boating
No swimming, no floating
No baseballs, no playgrounds
No corn roasts, no hay mounds
No campfire, no ember
No hot sun-
November!
