Old Fashioned Book Reports...

So far this year I have done three 'foo-foo' book reports (book reports in a can, illustrating the main events, etc.) and my students do not take them seriously and do very poorly on them (even though they have a grading sheet that lets them know how many points each section is worth).

Can you recommend a place to get good old fashioned book reports or have a copy you could send to me? tvenor@echs.org. Thank you!

you might try...

You might try looking in the resources provided by your text book. In the past I used a fill-in-the-blank form from our adopted text's workbook resource. I would teach expository writing and would have students compose a book report based on this workbook page. Also Mailbox has plenty of graphic organizers you could use to have students report on a book.
