Piercing sound in right ear

This morning, at 3 a.m., on my Thanksgiving break:rolleyes:, I was wide awake with a piercing sound in my right ear. It was not a constant sound...it was like piercing bleeps in my ear. When I yawned, it would then stay constant. After an hour, it went away, but now it seems to be back. It is so annoying...I'm not sure what is going on. Has anyone had this happen to them?

I wonder if you could have an ear infection or fluid on your ear. You could have also ruptured your ear drum. Sounds bad but really isn't. I would go and have it checked out.

I agree with the PP, you could have a sinus/ear infection of punctured your ear drum. Get it checked ASAP, especially before Thanksgiving Day! Please keep us posted. Hope you feel better! :)

I live with constant ringing!

In fact, it's like a symphony all day long! Yes, really annoying too! I guess I am used to it. The doctor thought it might stop after I had ear surgery, but no it didn't. It's called tinnitus. I don't think you have that especially if it came on suddenly!

My friend gets it when she gets fluid in her ears! Do you have a cold?

Thanks everyone!

I truly appreciate all of your replies. :)

Teach & Learn...to answer your question...no, I do not have a cold. I feel fine and my allergies aren't acting up at all, so I don't know why it came on suddenly. I feel so sorry for you having to deal with ringing 24/7. I would be put into a mental hospital if that were the case with me because I about went crazy for the hour I had to deal with it last night.<!--misspeak-->
