Praxis II exam anyone?

Has anyone taken the Praxis II exam yet? It is "Elementary Education: Curriculum, instruction, and assessment" test # 10011. I have to take it during ST and have signed up for Jan. 12th. Can anyone tell me what it's like? I took the sample test online and only missed 2 or 3 (one of their "answers" isn't right - it says the answer is"A" and then it goes on to explain why the choice should be "C" or something like that, lol!)

Anyway, if you have taken it, could you tell me if the "real" questions are difficult or not?

Thanks!

I found it easier then Praxis one. I viewed it as a lot of questions that they would ask a 6 grader or below. Like what are the three primary colors.

I took it almost two years ago. The only questions I found difficult were the few that dealt with phys ed, art, or music. I wasn't trained in those areas, so I didn't really know what to answer. There's only a few questions in those areas. Most are about the content ares you'd actually teach in an elementary education classroom. Otherwise, the test is fine. I found it easier than the practice tests online, I did no prep work before I took it, and I did very well on it!

Good luck! :)

Oh, good. The practice test does seem kind of hard. Not impossible, but too much "book" knowledge. Three primary colors? Now that is easy. I hope it's okay...

by the way, there are 110 or 120 questions, but the minimum passing score I need is 159. Are they like 2 points per question or something, do you know?

I am a HORRIBLE standardized test taker.... However, I didn't think that the Praxis 2 was bad at all. The main part I didn't like was having to sit and take it for so long. I took it two years ago, and I don't remember the questions being extremely hard. There were a few that I had no clue on, but for the most part a lot of it was common sense type questions.

Good Luck!

Praxis II

I took the Praxis II in August of 2007. Being that I am a horrible test taker I thought it was a little difficult, but mostly because I was so nervous. I thought I had bombed it because I focused so much on the questions I didnt know that I forgot how many I actually did...if that makes any sense. haha..Well it turned out that I passed and I did really well. Looking back, it really wasn't that difficult. I have heard that the best way to student for it is to take a couple of the practice tests and also watch "Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader" because many of the questions ask covers the content that we are expected to know.

Good Luck! Just remember to try to be as calm and relaxed as possible and you will do great!!!

The questions that got me were the ones that were specific to a type of test "A 7 year old second grader in October takes a such and such test. Does her score of a 2.7 indicate: a. on grade level b. above grade level c. below grade level d. this test does not test for "on grade level".....kind of difficult to answer when you've never heard of that type of test!
Good luck!

Praxis II

I probably have a different experience than most of you. Out of 200, I scored in the high 190s on the test but felt as I was taking it, that there was a certain level of ambiguity on the Eled: C,I,A that was not present on the Eled: Content Knowledge. I think if you are well prepared, you shouldn't have a problem passing it but be prepared for questions where you think, "Couldn't both of those be right?" Just try to focus on BEST PRACTICE and it should be fine. :) Good luck!

Praxis II Mid School Lang Arts

I plan to take the Middle School Language Arts Praxis II and maybe the Middle School Math. I'm hoping to teach primary but want to be "highly qualified" so I am taking the exams in Jan. & March.

Has anyone taken either of these?

Good luck!

I'm also taking the el test in Jan.

There are 110 questions.

I already have my spec ed one. I wasn't nervous for that one and passed no problem. BUT...I am so nervous for this one. I have taken a few tests and have gotten 60% or so on practice tests. So I am VERY worried about it. I get the math (angles etc... not basic math) and science ones wrong. I am irritated bec if I were teaching those subjects, I'd have it all in front of me to look at before hand and see in the teacher guides how to teach it. Plus have my other grade teachers who I could collaborate with on how to teach the subject. KWIM? I mean for G-d sake I teach special ed! If I can teach them, I can teach regular ed kids.

Anyway good luck to you.

very random....

it seems like the questions were very random. I procrastinated during the semester I took the test, so I didn't study at all. And I passed!

I would have rather taken the test on the computer, like the Praxis I. Unfortunately, its paper and pencil only for all Praxis II. I hate those bubbles, and sitting in a hot room, not being able to take a break to eat, drink or use the bathroom.

To study for 10011, I went to Borders, grabbed a few books with practice tests, and tested myself and then went over the answers to ones I had missed. It felt like good practice, and it was fairly pleasant and cheap. That test wasn't that hard, but I liked feeling prepared.

Praxis 10012

I also am scheduled to take #1011 on Jan 12. Fortunately I am very comfortable taking multiple choice exams. However, then, on Mar 15 I have to take #10012, the written essay exam. And although I'm good with multiple choice, I am amazingly horrendous with essay questions and I am scared to death as this could hold up my final licensing. Can anyone give me an idea as to the writing prompts they saw when they took the exam? Just having a general idea of what they cover would be a very big help and I'd be eternally grateful for any assistance.

I just took it!

I just took the PRAXIS II Social Studies: General knowledge test. It wasn't easy. They ask a lot about certain Acts presidents made like Woodrow Wilson and FDR, and a lot of "Which is the best answer". They are are right so to me the best is bull crap. It should ask a straight forward question. I don't think I passed it for teaching High School. I cant say its easy at all. It is some obscure questions it ask. I will wait and see if I passed, it don't tell you! It sucks though in my state if you do fail because it cost $120 every time! Just keep thinking positive for sure!:)
