Project Based Learning

I am being required to do a project based learning lesson with my 3rd grade students (have never used PBL before). Has anyone ever done a PBL lesson where students have to solve some kind of problem related to their school? Help, I need some ideas!!

I am not exactly sure yet, but I do know that it has to tie in with our curriculum somehow. Any ideas????

Try to connect cross-curriculum, to provide a theme and some ideas for activities. For example, in a science standard, introduce it with some literature, read informational text/stories in that area, in your writing phase of the day, write on the subject, utilize any math needed to understand that standard (a math standard, hopefully ). If you can align different standards together, it can make a good unit. I've found that making a curriculum map helps a lot. More info. available if you need it. Good luck.

I just can't think up of a problem for my students to actually solve that has to do with a school topic. I am being required to have my students actually carrie out the plan that they develop. Help!!!!!! Any ideas??
