punctuation

Overall, I believe my students are good writiers. They know how to write a beginning, middle and end. They always have a problem and a solution. But they don't always have their punctuation and if they do it is not in the right place.
Does anyone do anything great to help kids remember punctuation? I could do lessons on it using my own stories but that doesn't seem to help.
Thanks!

morning message

Do you do a morning message? This past week I've started leaving out punctuation and capital letters and having the students find where they should go. They've gotten really into it and like being the detectives...my hopes is that this will transfer over into their own writing.

small stickers

I use the small stickers. Each sentence that is written correctly I put a small sticker over the punctuation mark. I challenge them to see who can get the most stickers.
