re: Harcourt Trophies - 1st grade

We are trying to locate the actual DRA-type reading level list for all the basal stories in the Harcourt Trophies series. This is for first grade. Our literacy coach has repeatedly contacted Harcourt with no response.
If anyone knows this information and is willing to share, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks melesc.

I have the list from the link you posted. I am trying to find a list for the levels in the actual basal reading book. I *assume* that it is the same as the on-level books for each story, but I don't know that for sure.

I will ask

Im not sure about that. I will ask my collegues at school on Tuesday and see if anyone knows. Do you like teaching Trophies? This is my first year with it. I like it so far.

It's okay.

We are trying to move more into guided reading groups using leveled books, and less of the basal.

I wish there was more language/grammar practice with it.

Thanks for posting this - glad I read the thread. I teach first grade, first year, Harcourt, and I am still figuring out how to use all the materials.

We use the basal series for shared reading in my room, and use another group of books, Ready Readers, for guided reading. I had no idea what level the decodables were though and this info helps. :-)

Ashlock Training

Harcourt does not train you to use the program effectively. Jennifer Ashlock has the Lesson Maps to give you direct explicit instruction for each story. You have to go through her training to get the lesson maps. I have mastered her technique and have special ed. students learning to read. They are strategic on the DIBELS testing.

DRA-type reading level

try contacting the Marketing Manager, she will connect you with the right person. I found a misprint on the Harcourt Trophies First Grade Reading Test (Try Your Best story), my childs teacher counted off 10 pts. and insisted that it was a higher level question, but I knew it wasn't so I contacted Harcourt Trophies Publishing Company and spoke with a very nice, understanding and caring person who sent me an email stating that it was a misprint and I showed it to my childs teacher, she was given her 10 pts back on her grade. Here is the emai;
