Anybody have any great activities to share for Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss? March 2 is the day and that is coming fast!

Hi,

Go to http://www.seussville.com

There are a lot of activities to do.

We have a Sneetches picnic in the room. Beach towels, beach clothes, sunglasses, etc.

We plan a picnic lunch - everyone brings in an item.

Look at the site for recipes. Peanut butter sandwiches, lemonade, macaroni salad, star cookies, etc. We do cut stars in each sandwich. Parents come in to help. We watch the movie, play the game, and have fun.

I also use the peanut butter and jelly stuff for a supply and demand lesson. They have to negotiate to get what they need. It is great learning.

Also, abcteach has good comprehension stuff and www.seussville.org

Green

Bartholomew and the Oobleck is always a hit. The kids enjoy making the green goo. There's a recipe for it. And it's not too far from St. Patrick's Day so green is appropriate.
