ridiculous rules

My college has the most ridiculous rules I've ever heard of. I am taking the last remedial math course cause I've always struggled with math. I never thought I would get math but I have a fantastic math professor and am making a B in the class. However, the university has a rule that if you are in any remedial class you have to meet with your academic advisor 3 times during the semester, and if you don't you are suspended and can't enroll for a semester. I have met with my advisor 3 times already and they don't tell me anything new and I feel like they talk down to me by giving me study habits I'm already aware of & the stuff they tell me is the same stuff they tell me everytime, and they ask me if I'm going to pass my math course when I have a high B. I understand some students need to see an academic advisor but it shouldn't be forced, and I am doing just fine without their help. I would think though for those students who don't meet with an advisor 3 times during the semester that rule could be appealed. I mean if you get an A or B in remedial math, it seems ridiculous to suspend a college student for just not meeting with their academic advisor. This is college, not high school and students are expected to take responsibility for their own grades. We don't need to constantly go see an advisor and be babied like high school students are.

rules

I understand there is a reason for rules, but the advising office is not very supportive at all. They expect you to fail. When I went for my required advising they said "when you fail this remedial class....". I told them I had a B in the class and they said that grade isn't set in stone yet, and that I could end up failing the class. They were beyond rude to me and expecting me not to do well. There were advising evaluations forms you could fill out, so I wrote an entire page on how unsupportive this advising office is. Besides that the advising office has told me that certain early childhood classes I took at community college don't transfer, however I have a document from the education department that says it does transfer. When I showed it to them, they told me they don't go by that and that the education department was wrong. Seeing how I'll be getting my degree from the education department I think I'll go by what the education department says. I do not trust a word these advisors in general advising tell me. Thankfully I will be taking Math for Liberal Arts in the summer, so this summer I can declare my major and go to the NICE and SUPPORTIVE advisors in the education department and never have to deal with these general advisors again. Everyone i talk to says how the general advisors are no help at all. Even college professors have gotten mad at them because they will put students in the wrong classes, and then its a whole mess to get changed.
