schoolhouse simulation

Hey all! I recently saw in a magazine a simulation for a one room schoolhouse. Has anyone out there used it? What's it like? I've used the same brand of simulation for Lewis and Clark and the Pioneers one, both were good but intense. I teach third and have to teach a pioneer unit. I don't want to do an Oregon Trail unit since that's for fourth, so I want to do a pioneer life unit. I thought this simulation might fit. Anyone know about it or something else I can do? THanks!

I did a one room schoolhouse simulation (however we actually had one that we used so we brought slates (personal chalkboards) and I had some ole readers and spellers as well as math. Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder as well as most of her books have a lot of great references to their one room school days. You could make it generic "pioneer times" and tailor a day where the kids come in, have various chores to do, (filling a water bucket with a ladle to drink out of, sweep the floor, pencils ready etc.) Then various lessons are done with small groups coming up, using only chalkboards. You can tailor the lessons so that the kids represent various age groups. When they answer they stand up to recite. Hope that helps!
