Sick Again

This is my second go round of antibiotics in the last month for Strep. I made sure I took all my meds the first time drink plenty of liquid, get enough rest but now it has hit again. I would think after SO many years of teaching I would more immuned than this. Guess that's crazy thinking.
What do you do to stay well during the winter months? I wash my hands all the time, insist on students to cover their mouths--oh yeah right-- It doesn't help that our building stays so hot all winter.

Any tips.....I'm sick of being sick!!:(

sick

Hi!
Your winter sounds like mine. I'm sick again this weekend too. Not sure what's going on--congestion,cough,fever,ugh! This is about the fourth time this season for being sick which is unlike me. Not sure why all of a sudden I seem to be picking up a lot of things. As for the strep, my son had Strep a few weeks ago and his doctor said to be sure to throw his toothbrush away when he finished his antibiotics. Maybe you have already done that??? I hope you feel better soon.

sick

I suppose I shouldn't speak too soon, but I haven't been sick at all this school year. My secret? I don't know. I did get a flu shot. I take vitamins daily - multivitamin, Vit. C, Vit. E, Calcium, Omega-3, and B-12. I wash my hands continually - They are raw at times. I wash the tables in my classroom a couple times a week with a spray disinfectant. I keep Clorox wipes in my room and wipe off door handles, light switches, and my phone at least once a week. Our custodial staff doesn't do any of that stuff. I get 8 hours of sleep a night.
I don't know if any of this has made the difference, if I'm just fortunate, or if my time is coming.

Vitamins!

I take a multi-vitamin each morning, and I really think it helps. When I student taught (I know--first year teaches are more likely to get sick) I was sick a LOT! Last year, as a first year teacher, I only got sick a few times...this year, I've only been sick twice, and I really think the vitamins help.

I also use hand sanitizer CONSTANTLY--in between washing my hands.

Our janitors use a disinfecting wash on the desks and other areas (sink/tables/door handles) every day, which also probably helps.

I use Lysol (shhh, don't tell!) after school several times a week on my carpets, shelves, and rocking chair.

So far...so good..
