I taught 2nd grade for 4 years, I took last year off to be with my baby girl and I am ready to go back to teaching. I just got called for an interview at my dream school, but it's for kindergarten. I feel like I have a good chance of getting the position, but I'm really nervous about teaching kindergarten. Will I have very hard time teaching kindergarten since my experience is with 2nd grade???

It's different but you can do it!

I went from 3rd to kindergarten. I love them both for different reasons but I think a good teacher can teach any grade. It's also good to get experience in different grades. Good luck!!

I've taught both. You would be fine in kindergarten. Classroom management is very similar in style. They are both "little kid" grades, so you could use a lot of your same systems and tricks for that.

The curriculum would be different since you are starting from the beginning academically, but the way you teach wouldn't be that much different. You can add in more songs, stories, and craft projects with K, especially in the beginning, but the "feel" of it isn't that radically different.
