Standards Based Assessment Seminar

I had a quick question if anyone can help me on it. I have been participating in a district wide program on standards based assessment this year. As most of you know, I am not teaching high school math anymore, and this program is for grades 6-10 Math and English teachers. The last part of the program is tomorrow and Tuesday, and I would like to go to it. However, I emailed my principal about it and he said since I am no longer teaching in the high school that I need to work on my projects for the elementary tomorrow. Well, I don't have anything to do tomorrow, so I would be sitting at the school bored. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get out of going to the school tomorrow and still go to this seminar, that I know I can use the information being presented? If anyone has any ideas that would be greatly appreciated!

Go to work

Follow your principals directions and return to work tomorrow. Find something to do at school tomorrow. Work on planning for next school year. This is the Best advice I can give you.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help! I will be going back to work today especially since I had just taken a personal day on Friday. I guess I'm just upset because I have went to the other seminars on this all this year, and this is the last one plus we get CEU's for it. I just feel like he is screwing me over when it comes to earning those. Oh well! I only have 1 thing to do today so far and that is laminate a whole bunch of pages, and cut them apart and put them into the appropriate bags they are needed in. I know it won't take long at all to do. I don't really have a plan though for next school year since right now I don't have a job. I guess I could bring some books to read or something.

reference

Could you volunteer to help out someone at school? Are there any kids you can pull for tutoring? Can you assist in someone's classroom?

You have to make it seem like you're a hard worker who's interested in being there and willing to do whatever is necessary to help out. You really need to get as good of a reference as you can in order to salvage the year. Taking days off all the time and doing nothing at school isn't going to help you much. Future employers will be calling these principals for references--remember that.
