Student Teacher gifts
Have the kids thumbprint flowers (daisies) on a flower pot and write their first names on the stems or in the leaves. Light blue, yellow, red, and white paints look the best. Use a green paint marker to make the stems and the leaves and a black one to write their names. Cover entire pot with modge podge or other sealer so that the paint doesn't wash/chip off.) This looks real cute on a terracotta flower pot. Give her a plant in it too and she'll have it for her first classroom. ( I make these for my class moms at the end of the year.)
Have the children write a letter about how she helped them and mention events/trips/school assemblies she was with them for, wish her good luck, of have them give their on "helpful hints" How to be a great teacher when she has her own class! Then have them draw a picture for her to go beside the letter. You can even add a small photo of each child to each of their letters. Mount on construction paper and laminate the pages, put a class photo on the first page, bind into a book, and it looks adorable. I received one when I was student teacher. I still have it!
Put together a basket of supplies she could use for her new classroom. I think this sort of gift eases some anxiety as a new teacher of "not having anything to start with." (Or send a note home asking parents to donate some supplies and you add in the "teacher stuff") (Chalk- colored, white and yellow, erasers, wipe off markers, stapler, tape dispender, paper clips, staples, box of sharpie markers, post its, advil, mug, man magents to hold things on chalkboard, a wooden calendar object for her desk or other novelty teacher store item, a bell, a timer, a stress ball, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, sentence strips, name tags, an EZ Grader, stickers, ink pads, stampers, incentive chart pads, book marks, birthday certificates/pencils, awards, etc.) Of course a gift certificate is always nice too.
The book: 32 Third Graders and 1 Class Bunny by Phillip Done. It is HYSTERICAL!!! I love that book.
