Summer Program

New Member
This is the second year I will be running and creating a Jump Start back to school program. It is about 8 half-days for students grades 1-5 to come back and do some activities to get ready for school. It happens about 2 weeks before we go back to school. I teach first grade so I know what 1st and second graders should work on. However the other grades I need some ideas to plan. What weaknesses do you see your incoming students arriving with?

Upcoming third graders

usually have forgotten their addition and subtraction facts. Plus many have forgotten how to write a complete sentence correctly with capitalization and punctuation.

I agree with the basic addition and subtraction facts. Another biggie for them is place value.

Older Grades

For the older grades, I would say multiplication facts and fractions. Also a review of math vocabulary would be helpful.
