Tacky the Penguin 1 day 1 hour lesson

Hi, I am looking to do a 1 hour, 1 day lesson plan on Tacky The Penguin by Helen Lester for 1st graders. I previously put this in the 1st grade spot but I wanted to hear even more input because I love hearing all of your wonderful ideas!! I want to focus on the themes being different is great or accepting other people for their differences. I need 1 activity to do before reading and one or two activities to do after reading the book, that incorporate the themes above. Also any advice on how I should read the book to the class would be appreciated too. Should I use this book as a read-aloud or a shared reading book. Anyone who has heard of this book and the series or has any other ideas that pertain to the themes, would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have used the reader's theatre. http://teachers.net/lessons/posts/1129.html Also I got the tape from the library, it's fun. Venn diagram with Tacky on one side and the other penguins on the other - include a summary statement, eg: "this graph shows that Tacky is a lot like the other penguins because......." or "this graph shows that Tacky is quite different from the others because....."
